Hi, and welcome to my world. First of all, I'm thrilled you're here. You probably got sucked in by the snazzy title, and wanted to learn a little about Jewish History. I mean, doesn't everyone? After all, if as they say, the jews own everything, then shouldn't we study them to learn how they got that way?
OK, down to business, about Chanukah. First of all, I want you to know that most of you are getting gipped at the modernization of the word. It is actually spelled with the CH, just like Christmas, but unlike Christmas, the CH doesn't have the K sound, nor does it have the Cha-Cha-Cha sound that most people unfamiliar with the hebrew language would grant it. It's actually pronounced- get ready for this...OK, I just realized that it's going to be exceptionally hard to phonetically communicate the sound in writing.
